I got into an accident in my honda civic several years ago. My front bumper needs to be replaced because it wasn't repaired correctly. I am thinking about putting a body kit on it. What are the pros and cons of doing that? Some that I see are low to the ground that I am afraid I will knock it off by parking over a parking cement curb. Or a large bump in the road? Or maybe they look low because the car has been lowered?

A lot of body kits do have taller vertical space which, in turn, makes them lower to the ground.

As far as pros and cons?

Cons
Have to install and get painted
Can get jacked up from road damage and then make your car look stupid

Pros
You'll get mad bitches
Probably get a raise at your job
Probably get a job if you don't have a job

LOL Uncle Ben!!!

As for the body kits, if you really wnat to install some, keep it simple. Don't put something ridiculous or too big on your car. Looks like a pretty good looking Civic on your avatar, keep it that way.

Pros:
Can make your car look good if they're not "too much".
Can attract some type of girls, those my 1992 Jetta doesn't attract.

Cons:
Quality body kits are hard to find and are more expensive.
You have to paint it with GOOD paint, otherwise it's gonna look like poop.
Doesn't really add downforce, that's a legend invented by tuners to defend themselves and supported by body kit makers to sell their s h i t.

There's one rule in tuning if you ask me:
Do whatever you want with your car, as long as it's not rice.

If you want a serious answer, here you go...

Performance Pros
None

Performance Cons
Less aerodynamics (usually).  People say that body kits are more aerodynamic.  I've yet to see one that truly is.

Cosmetic Pros
Might look somewhat cooler... as long as you don't get a retarded kit

Cosmetic Cons
b i t c h to match the paint color
Will probably get all f u c k e d up and chipped and make your car look dumber than before

Thanks for your all your input. It doesn't look like I am going to do a body kit because I cant find one that has a front bumper factory height. The VFiber Vision Sabre Koltv4s looks like the front bumber would be high. It wouldn't be right if I just put the side skirt and rear bumper. Another problem I have with it. I already looked into pricing, it would cost me $1800.00 to buy it, have it installed and painted, thats okay. Being that the kit may not be made out of the same material as the rest of the car I think the paint will look different from the rest of the car. If I do a kit I have to have the whole car repainted.  Smiley
